CRS Completes Statutory Inspection and High-Speed Trial Run on Pamban-Mandapam Railway Section

The Commissioner of Railway Safety (CRS) for the Southern Circle, AM Chowdhary, conducted a statutory inspection of the newly laid broad gauge railway line between Pamban and Mandapam stations, which includes the recently constructed Pamban Bridge in Madurai Division.

As part of the inspection, officials operated the Vertical Lift Girder Span Bridge, a critical component of the new broad gauge line across the Palk Strait, showcasing its functionality to the inspecting team. The span is a significant engineering accomplishment, designed to allow safe and efficient movement of both rail and marine traffic.

Following the inspection, Chowdhary conducted a high-speed trial on the new line, with the train reaching 90 km/h on the main section and 80 km/h on the bridge. The inspection marked a crucial step towards opening the upgraded route for regular service, according to the release.
