"CtrlS Unveils ₹4,000-Crore Investment Plan for Hyperscale Datacentre Park in Chennai"

CtrlS Datacentres, a prominent domestic datacentre firm with a robust network comprising 15 datacentres across India and overseas, has unveiled plans for a significant investment of ₹4,000 crore to establish a hyperscale datacentre complex in Chennai. This latest initiative marks the fifth hyperscale datacentre complex for the company in India, following successful ventures in Mumbai, Noida, Bengaluru, and Hyderabad.

Sridhar Pinnapureddy, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of CtrlS Datacenters, disclosed, "We are allocating ₹4,000 crore towards our Chennai campus, which is expected to create 500 direct job opportunities and over 9,000 indirect employment prospects."

Situated in the Ambattur industrial area, the campus will feature two datacentre buildings boasting a collective built-up area of nearly one million square feet and a substantial 72-megawatt IT load capacity.

"The inaugural datacentre building, Chennai DC 1, has already reached full capacity and is slated to commence operations in the second quarter of this calendar year. Meanwhile, the second datacentre building, Chennai DC 2, is scheduled for completion in the latter half of the year, with bookings currently being accepted," Pinnapureddy elaborated.

Designed with resilience in mind, the facility is engineered to withstand seismic activity up to a magnitude of 7.5 on the Richter scale, while also boasting flood-proof features due to its elevation of 14 meters above sea level. Additionally, the datacentre buildings are raised an additional 2.2 meters for added protection.

Highlighting Chennai's strategic importance, Pinnapureddy emphasized, "Chennai stands as the second-largest datacentre market in India, bearing significant strategic relevance owing to its numerous subsea cable landing stations."

The announcement underscores CtrlS Datacentres' commitment to advancing India's digital infrastructure landscape and underscores its dedication to innovation, reliability, and sustainability in the datacentre sector.
