Decision to be made on Doha New Port contracts.

A number of contracts are expected to be awarded for the Doha New port project in the next month.

Chief among the contracts that are to be announced is the Naval Base and related infrastructure package.

The scope of work covers a 4.5 km2 manmade island and on-shore area of 1.1 km2 including 53km of road pavement and 32km of storm drainage network.

The work also includes 78km of fibre optic telecommunication network, 19km of foul water collection network, 58km of potable and fire water distribution network.

The winning contractor will also oversee the design and construction of 14 utility buildings.
