Delhi Metro, Ghaziabad Development Authority sign pact for new line.

A MoU was recently signed between Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA) and Delhi Metro for the 9.41 km-long extension of metro line from Dilshad Garden to New Bus Stand in Ghaziabad, while setting 2017 as the deadline for the completion of the project.

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation chief Mangu Singh and GDA Vice-Chairman Santosh Yadav signed the MoU for the project at GDA office here. Yadav said the construction work of the project will start soon. This is the second phase of Metro project in Ghaziabad being carried out by GDA and DMRC.

The line over an elevated section on GT Road, which is expected to cater to more than one lakh commuters, will provide improved connectivity to Delhi for Shahid Nagar, Shalimar Garden, Raj Nagar, Raj Nagar Extension, Siyani, Mohan Nagar and Arthala areas of Ghaziabad. Dilshad Garden-New Bus Stand Metro line will have seven stations -- Shahid Nagar, Raj Bagh, Rajendra Nagar, Shyam Park, Mohan Nagar, Arthala and New Bus Adda. The cost of the project is estimated at around Rs. 1,770 crore. Major share ofit will be borne by GDA, GNN, Uttar PUPSIDC and UP Housing and Development Board.
