Design for sports complex.
A meeting with architects on the design of the Multi Sports Complex proposed at Gandigundam was held recently.
T. Baburao Naidu, Vice-Chairman of VUDA that has been assigned the task of getting the designs prepared, had discussions with 10 architects from Hyderabad and other cities.
The stadium coming up over 79 acres will have facilities for 32 sports.
Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu proposed the stadium with the object of hosting the 2018 National Games.
Mr. Baburao Naidu asked the architects to submit the designs by May 14. The designs should include facilities for coaching, ample green cover and multi-level and underground parking.
Visakhapatnam West MLA P.G.V.R. Naidu (Ganababu) suggested earmarking a part of the land for future development. Since the proposed Sports Complex was bigger than the Gachibowli stadium, facilities should be state-of- the-art, he said.
VUDA Secretary A. Srinivas suggested inclusion of facilities for accommodation, hospitality and sale points for sports material in the design.
Chief Urban Planner B. Ramatirtha, Assistant Planning Officer K.D. Brainard, District Sports Officer D. Surya Rao and GVMC Sports Director Y. Srinivasa Rao participated.
