DMRC Proposes Gold Line Extension to Connect Noida with Aerocity Metro.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has proposed an extension of the Gold Line to improve metro connectivity between Noida and Delhi’s IGI Airport, as part of plans to link the city with the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. The proposal suggests extending the Gold Line to Kalindi Kunj, a key interchange point, by adding a 5km stretch from Tughlakabad, where the Gold Line currently ends. This extension would enhance metro access to Aerocity and IGI's Terminal 3, significantly improving transport links between Noida and the airport.

The proposed extension, estimated to cost around Rs 950 crore, would connect Kalindi Kunj and Botanical Garden, both major metro interchanges. Botanical Garden is a crucial hub, connecting the Blue and Magenta Lines, and will become even more important once the Aqua Line's expressway leg is completed, facilitating travel between Noida and Greater Noida. This new link would also provide a second metro route to IGI Airport, complementing existing connections via the Magenta Line.

The extension would further extend Noida's metro grid, making it possible to travel from Greater Noida’s Pari Chowk to IGI Airport, filling the transit gap from the soon-to-open Noida International Airport in Jewar. The proposal also aligns with plans to eventually extend metro services to Jewar, connecting the area to the NCR’s second international airport.

DMRC’s proposal is under review by the Uttar Pradesh government, with the Chief Minister, Yogi Adityanath, set to approve the plan. DMRC hopes to complete the project within three years, providing a fast and efficient metro route linking Noida, IGI Airport, and Greater Noida.
