DPR for Vizag as smart city in 15 months: Chandrababu Naidu.

The detailed project report for the development of Visakhapatnam as a smart city should be ready within 15 months and the preliminary report by December, according to Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu.

He was speaking here on Tuesday after holding a review meeting with the representatives of the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), AECOM, KPMG, IBM and other consortium partners. All these agencies and companies are involved in the exercise.

The Chief Minister said that during last October the Prime Minister had announced that Visakhapatnam will be developed as a smart city with US assistance. A year had passed and still the DPR had not been made ready, he said and the process should be expedited.

The consultants sought 18 months’ time to prepare the DPR, but the Chief Minister said it was too long a period and it should be done in 15 months.

Union Urban Development Minister M Venkaiah Naidu also participated in the discussions.
