Dr. Reddy's and Dr. Reddy’s Foundation Launch Soil Testing Resource Centre.

Dr. Reddy’s Laboratories Ltd, in collaboration with the Dr. Reddy’s Foundation, has inaugurated a state-of-the-art soil testing resource centre in Hyderabad. The 14,750-sq ft facility is designed to provide fast, accurate, and affordable soil testing services to a wide range of beneficiaries, including farmers, agronomists, agricultural researchers, and institutions.

In a statement released on Friday, a senior executive from Dr. Reddy’s highlighted the centre's aim to promote sustainable agricultural practices and improve productivity. “Only 5-20 per cent of the country’s cultivable land undergoes soil testing. The new centre addresses this gap with crop-specific, cost-effective recommendations that can boost yields by 20-30 per cent,” the executive explained.

Equipped with advanced instruments, the centre offers precise analysis of over 18 soil parameters, with the capacity to process up to 200,000 samples annually.

Soil degradation, driven by factors such as erosion, excessive chemical fertilizers, and poor land management, remains a significant challenge to agricultural productivity and environmental sustainability in India. The new centre aims to mitigate these issues by providing critical data on soil’s physical, chemical, and biological characteristics. This information will enable stakeholders to make more informed decisions about fertilizer use and other agricultural inputs, ultimately improving yields, lowering costs, and fostering better environmental outcomes.
