Dried-up Badkhal Lake to be revived.
The Haryana Tourism has initiated a move to revive famous Badkhal Lake. It has invited applications to hire a consultant to prepare a detailed project report for the revival of the dried-up lake.
The applicant will have to deposit Rs. 2 lakh as security and the work has to be completed in four months. Applications should be submitted on or before June 17.
Spread over 44 acres, the tourist resort is on the verge of extinction. Gross negligence on the part of the authorities, mismanagement and continuous degradation of natural resources are some of the reasons responsible for the deplorable condition of the largest lake in the state.
Located in the sprawling tail end of the picturesque Aravallis, the tourist resort came up in 1969. The occupancy rate at the resort has also gone down due to the dried-up lake. This has not only affected the financial condition of the resort, but has also affected the tourist footfall, said an employee.
