Expedite Land Acquisition for Dindi Project: KCR to Officials.

Chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has directed irrigation officials to prepare a comprehensive plan to complete the proposed Dindi Lift Irrigation Scheme at the earliest.

At a review meeting with officials here on Saturday, the Chief Minister said that Dindi LIS will provide water to Nalgonda, Mahbubnagar and Rangareddy districts including fluoride-affected Devarakonda and Munugodu Assembly segments.

Rao directed the officials to expedite the land acquisition process for the project especially in Singarajupalli, Gottimukkala, Krishnarampalli and Sivannagudem in Nalgonda district and Arkapalli in Mahbubnagar district, where reservoirs as part of Dindi would come up.

Rao directed finance secretary Ramakrishna to release Rs 100 crore additional amount for land acquisition immediately. The state government has already released Rs 75 crore for the purpose. The chief minister directed the officials to pay the value of land and property, which the farmers would lose, and also pay Rs. 5.04 lakh for constructing a new house for project oustees. All these amounts should be released at one go, he said.

Officials should ensure that the submergence should be minimum and loss to villages should be very nominal, while constructing the reservoirs, the chief minister told the officials.'As a fair amount is being paid to farmers towards the compensation, the land acquisition should be completed at the earliest,' Rao said.

Kalwakurthy and Atchampet in Mahbubnagar, Devarakonda and Munugodu in Nalgonda and Ibrahimpatnam Assembly in Rangareddy would be provided irrigation water through Dindi project. Besides, Dindi is also conceived to provide drinking water for Hyderabad. As part of Dindi, a six-km long tunnel would be constructed.

The chief minister directed the officials to expedite the land acquisition for Gandhamalla and Basvapur reservoirs being constructed as part of Kaleshwaram LIS.
