Finland Govt to fund water project in Western Region

Kathmandu: The Finnish government is all set to ink an agreement with the Nepal government to provide a grant assistance of Rs 878 million for activities in rural water supply, sanitation and micro-infrastructure in the western development region.

The total cost of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Project (RWSSP) is estimated at Rs 1.17 billion of which the Nepal government will be bearing 25 per cent, a local development ministry official said.

The project is going to be implemented in nine districts in Dhawalagiri, Gandaki, Rapti and Lumbini zones. The project would support decentralisation of local government, institutional capacity development, human resources development and local resources mobilisation, the official said.
