The Tamil Nadu government has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with L&T involving investments worth ₹18,600 crore.

The Tamil Nadu government recently signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Larsen & Toubro (L&T) for three major projects worth ₹18,600 crore, expected to generate around 8,200 jobs in the state.

The agreement marks the first major investment pact signed by the newly elected Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam government since assuming office.

The MoU was signed by K.G. Sathyanarayanan, Head of Initiatives, Development Cell, L&T Construction, and Alarmel Mangai, Executive Director of Guidance Tamil Nadu, in the presence of Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay and L&T Chairman and Managing Director S.N. Subrahmanyan.

The projects include a ₹2,500-crore electronics manufactuing hub in Coimbatore, a ₹15,000-crore hyperscale and edge AI data centre in Kancheepuram aimed at expanding the state's digital infrastructure, and a ₹1,100-crore offshore wind infrastructure facility at Kattupalli to strengthen Tamil Nadu's renewable energy and industrial ecosystem.
