The manufacturing of the car body for the first trainset of the Chennai Metro Rail Ltd (CMRL) Phase-II project has been successfully completed at Alstom Transport India Limited in Sri City, Andhra Pradesh. Production began on February 8, 2024, with the car body construction followed by the installation of various equipment.

On Sunday, a ceremonial transfer of the first trainset to the Testing Bay took place at Alstom’s facility. The trainset will undergo testing at the factory before being delivered to CMRL’s Poonamallee Depot. Following static testing, it will participate in a series of static and dynamic trials on the Phase-II network tracks, along with necessary safety verifications and approvals to prepare for passenger operations.
