First unit of Rajpura thermal plant becomes operational. The first unit of the 700 MW super-critical (2x700 MW) Rajpura thermal power plant at Nalash village in Patiala district became operational today.

The plant was inaugurated by Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.

Developed by Larsen & Toubro, the project involved capital outlay of Rs. 9,600 crore for setting up the coal-fired power plant.

'The investment involved in this project was Rs. 9,600 crore,' L&T whole-time director Shailendra Roy told PTI.
