Focus on city development projects
Colombo: Minister of Construction of the People’s Republic of China Wang Guangtao had discussions with Urban Development and Sacred Area Development Minister Dinesh Gunawardena on issues of mutual interest with emphasis on Sri Lanka’s city development projects.
The Chinese Minister arrived here on Wednesday on the invitation of Minister Gunawardena. He will be in Sri Lanka until today.
The Chinese Minister’s visit will facilitate the implementation of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two Ministries in promoting co-operation in housing and infrastructure development during President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s State visit to China in February to celebrate 50 years of establishing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
The Chinese Minister also visited public/private sector development projects assisted by China and met the Chinese business and construction companies based in Sri Lanka.
The Minister is accompanied by senior officials of the Construction Ministry and the chief executives of China National Chemical Engineering Group Corporation, China Xinxing Corporation Group, Beijing Construction Engineering Group Company Limited, China Electronics Engineering Designs Institute, China Communications Construction Group.
