Former Odisha Minister Appeals to Gadkari on NH Project.

Former finance minister Prafulla Chandra Ghadei recently wrote a letter to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari for his immediate intervention in starting widening work of Chandikhole-Duburi-Talcher section of NH-200 which has been delayed.

Though a year has passed since the 133-km project was awarded to a foreign construction company by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), the work has not been started yet, the letter maintained.

Ghadei urged the Minister to take necessary steps for starting the project as early as possible.

“The tender has been finalised for four-laning work of Chandikhole-Duburi-Talcher section of NH-200 and work order has been awarded to ISOLUX Corsan, a foreign construction company. But, it is not showing any interest to start the work,” Ghadei said. While there is an unusual delay in starting the project, the dilapidated condition of the road coupled with heavy traffic has led to an increase in accidents. Thousands of vehicles use the road everyday and the commuters are facing hardship for poor condition of the road, he said.
