Four projects worth Rs 54 million approved
Multan: District development committee has approved four development projects, to be executed at a cost of Rs 54.1 million. Giving details, buildings department source told APP here Thursday that additional suites are being constructed at the Circuit House at a cost of Rs 5.6 million.
Furniture, computers and boundary wall for the Longay Khan Bagh library will require an expenditure of Rs 3.1 million. A fully-equipped Town Hospital is being constructed in 'S' block, New Multan, in Shah Rukn-e-Alam Town will cost Rs 31.9 million, while the Rahimabad Medical Centre is being upgraded by adding an operation theatre, dental unit and new furniture.
This will cost Rs 13.5 million. Work on these projects will start within a fortnight and will be completed soon, sources added. The city district government has decided to set up Town Hospitals in all four towns of the city, besides the district headquarters (DHQ) hospital, which is being constructed near Naag Shah Chowk at a cost of around Rs 500 million.
Establishment of the Town and DHQ hospital in the suburbs is aimed at easing pressure of patients at the Nishtar Hospital. Meanwhile the Civil Hospital, Children Hospital and the Cardiology Institute are already providing latest medical facilities to the citizens, reflecting the government's priority to better health care services for the masses.
