GE T&D India announced on Tuesday that it has clinched orders worth approximately ₹370 crore from the state-run transmission behemoth, Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCIL), to advance grid modernization efforts.
The orders entail the supply of 765 kV shunt reactors for various transmission system projects undertaken by PGCIL across India. These projects are aimed at facilitating the integration of renewable energy sources into the national grid and bolstering electricity transmission capabilities within the country, particularly in regions like Rajasthan and Karnataka, the company stated. As part of GE Vernova's grid solutions business, GE T&D India will oversee the complete equipment package, encompassing design, engineering, manufacturing, testing, erection, and commissioning of the 765 kV class reactors at designated transmission substation sites. Delivery of the reactors is slated for FY26.
In reaffirmation of its commitment to the Make in India initiative, GE T&D India highlighted its contribution through the supply of critical grid products sourced from its advanced manufacturing facilities situated in Padappai, Hosur, Vadodara, Noida, and Pallavaram.
Sandeep Zanzaria, MD, and CEO of GE T&D India expressed delight in supporting PGCIL's grid infrastructure modernization endeavors, emphasizing the supply of locally manufactured equipment in alignment with the government's Make in India initiative.
The company also underscored its track record, noting the successful manufacture and delivery of over 600 critical grid products of 765 kV class from its power transformer facility in Vadodara to clients both in India and abroad. This accomplishment solidifies GE T&D India's position as a premier manufacturer of such equipment in the country.
