Godavari Phase-1 Project to link pipes delayed.

The state government is sitting on a crucial project to interlink the main water distribution pipeline in the city. The cash-starved Water Board requires Rs. 350 crore to lay 'ring-mains' i.e,. the main distribution pipeline, to supply water to various areas within the city from the Godavari Phase-I project.

The ring-mains of Godavari Phase-I have to be connected with the existing ring-mains of Krishna Phase-I and Phase-II, Manjira, Singur, Osmansagar and Himayatsagar distribution lines so that water from any source can be diverted to any part of the city in case of a pipe burst or any other problem resulting in water not being supplied from any one of the sources.
