Goldline Group buys 26 Dubai plots to develop.

The founder of Dubai-based Goldline Contracting has bought 26 plots of land around Dubai which he intends to develop over the next three years.

Dr Navjit Singh Anand told Construction Week that the plots equated to around 5.5mn ft2 and would be developed by a new division of his Al Karama-based group of companies, Goldline Real Estate.

'I've bought them over six months,' he said. 'It’s been a lot of hard work, and the important thing is there will be a lot of hard work over the next three years.

'We have plots in Cultural Village, Busines Bay, Jumeirah Village South, Jumeirah Village Triangle, Dubai Sports City and at the Marina,' he said.

Dr Anand said that he had decided to launch a property development arm after a tough couple of years in contracting where, like many firms, it had worked on some contracts for which it hadn't received payment.

'As a contractor, I realised that I was at the mercy of developers. If the developer made money, the contractor might get paid. If the developer lost money we definitely will not get paid. The upside was with developers and the downside with contractors.'
