GVK Plans greenfield power projects in AP

GVK Plans greenfield power projects in AP GVK plans to expand two of its existing gas-based units by 800 Mega Watt each and go for two greenfield projects of 2,640 Mega Watt each in Andhra Pradesh.

The new projects will be gas-based and coal-based in Andhra Pradesh. For coal-based plants, The company is planning for two plants of 660X4 Mega Watt and looking to make them operational by2017.

The company is in the process of identifying location to set up thermal power plants and the fuel linkage.

The company may import coal from Hancock Coal mines in Australia which the group acquired last year.

The expansion of gas-based projects will largely depend on the availability of gas.
