Harita Seating Systems to tie-up wih German firm

Chennai: City-based Harita Seating Systems, an automotive seating solutions supplier has signed a letter of intent for a Joint Venture in India with F S Fehrer Automotive, the international specialist for vehicle interior components with headquarters in Germany.

The JV, expected to be operational in three months, would be called Harita-Fehrer Ltd with Harita Seating System holding 51 per cent and Fehrer 49 per cent, release said.

Harita-Fehrer Ltd would be based in Chennai. The production programme of the JV includes polyurethane moulded foam pads for seats and plastic components for the Indian automotive market as well as motorbike seats.

The production locations were in Hosur and Pune.

The partner companies also plan, to expand the capacities for the seat bolster production and extend the product portfolio by armrests and headrests for the Indian automotive market.

Thus, the joint company guarantees custom-made products for India's automotive industry, which meet international quality requirements', Fehrer Group CEO Bernd Welzel said in the release.
