HCC bags Metro contract.
Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation (BMRCL) has awarded a contract for the work between H.S.R. Layout and R.V. Road stations under Phase II to Hindustan Construction Company (HCC), which had entered a bid in a joint venture with URC Construction. The contract is worth ₹797.29 crore, the company stated recently.
The work pertains to a 6.340 kilometre stretch of the fully elevated 18.82 kilometre section between R.V. Road and Bommasandra section. It will have five stations - Central Silk Board, B.T.M. Layout, Jayadeva Hospital, Ragigudda and R.V. Road. The project is to be completed in 36 months.
'The contract includes the construction of road-cum-rail flyover, road widening and allied works,'the statement by HCC-URCC said.
The 72.095 kilometre Phase II will have 13.79 kilometre long underground section. BMRCL is in the process of selecting contractors for the underground Gottigere-Nagawara section, which has been split into four packages to speed up the work. Phase II is scheduled for completion in 2020.
