HCL Aims to Double Malanjkhand Copper Project Capacity in Madhya Pradesh by 2030: CMD.

Newly appointed Hindustan Copper Ltd (HCL) Chairman and Managing Director Anupam Mishra recently said the company is working at a fast pace to double the annual production capacity of its flagship Malanjkhand Copper Project (MCP) in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district from 2.5 million tonnes to 5 million tonnes by 2030.

During his first visit to the project after assuming charge as HCL's CMD earlier this month, Mishra said the Miniratna Category-I public sector undertaking has also drawn up a phased capital expenditure (capex) plan to increase its overall ore production capacity to 12.2 million tonnes by 2030.

"Our focus will be on completing the capital expenditure (capex) plan to achieve the production target of 12.2 million tonnes by 2030. Engineering in-charges and corporate teams will closely monitor every project and its key milestones so that any bottlenecks can be removed in time," Mishra told PTI.

He said the company is strengthening project monitoring and execution to ensure timely completion of expansion works and achieve its long-term production targets. The enhanced capacity is expected to support HCL's efforts to boost domestic copper production in line with the country's growing demand for the critical metal.
