High-level meeting called to take Greater Noida project further.
More than two months after Uttar Pradesh Development Systems Corporation Ltd. (UPDESCO) earmarked land for a 100 acre Greenfield Electronic Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in Greater Noida for LAVA International Limited, a meeting to take the project further has been scheduled for November 5. The meeting will be attended by Uttar Pradesh principle secretary Information Technology and Electronics, RK Tiwari, chairperson Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority (YEIDA) Rama Raman and Arunvir Singh, CEO, YEIDA.
According to officials, the meeting is a pre-requisite for the selection of a Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the setting up of the EMC in YEIDA's sector 24, which is located along the Yamuna Expressway. 'An Expression of Interest (EOI) for the selection of a SPV has already been floated in national dailies on October 13,' Arunvir Singh, CEO, YEIDA told TOI. 'A pre-EOI conference will be held on Thursday in Greater Noida. The meeting is being held to finalize the details and work out the modalities of the SPV, which will be responsible for the development, operations and management of the EMC. Thereafter, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) will be inked and land will be allotted to LAVA,' Singh explained.
A 100-acre EMC is to be set up along the Yamuna Expressway. With land formalities and ground work for the cluster likely to be completed within the next few months, manufacturing of electronic products including smart phones could start within the next two years.
