"Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) Inaugurates New Design and Test Facility for Strategic Engine Development"
In a significant stride towards aeronautical innovation, Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) inaugurated a cutting-edge design and test facility at the Aero Engine Research and Development Centre (AERDC) in Bengaluru on Friday. The facility, covering over 10,000 square meters, is poised to play a pivotal role in the development of strategic engines catering to trainer aircraft, drones, regional jets, and light to medium helicopters.
The inauguration ceremony was graced by Defence Secretary Shri Giridhar Aramane, who unveiled the state-of-the-art center equipped with special machines, advanced setups utilizing computational tools, an in-house fabrication facility, and two test beds dedicated to testing HTFE-25. Additionally, one test bed each is designated for testing HTSE-1200 and the upcoming joint venture engine for the Indian Multi-Role Helicopter (IMRH), co-developed by Safran, France, and HAL.
The Ministry of Defence, in a statement released on Friday, highlighted the significance of this facility in advancing the research and development capabilities of HAL in the realm of strategic engine technology. The establishment of this design and test facility underscores HAL's commitment to innovation and technological excellence in the defense and aerospace sector.
