HNPCL plant to supply 1,040 MW power to city.

The Hinduja National Power Corporation Limited (HNPCL) of Hinduja Group recently announced that they had commissioned a 1,040-megawatt power plant in Visakhapatnam. The officials hope that Andhra Pradesh would emerge as the first state to have power surplus in South India. The company has commissioned two 520-MW power plants that will cater to the increasing power demand caused by rapid industrialisation in the state.

On the occasion, Ashok Puri, managing director of HNPCL, said:”The power generated from the unit-1 and 2 will be supplied to the state-owned Southern and Eastern Power Distribution Companies of Andhra Pradesh. The plants will primarily cater to the power needs in and around of Vizag and the surplus will be distributed to other fast-growing economies in South India.”
