Hooda Pledges Metro Line Extension Linking Gurugram to Manesar.

Former Haryana Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda has vowed that if the Congress party comes to power in the upcoming state assembly polls, they will extend the metro line from Gurugram to Manesar.

Speaking at a conference of Congress workers, Hooda highlighted the party's previous achievements, including bringing the Delhi Metro service to Gurugram, Faridabad, Ballabhgarh, and Bahadurgarh in Haryana, which he described as a "historic" accomplishment. He criticized the current BJP-led government for halting further extensions of the metro service after assuming power.

"Gurugram, once envisioned by the Congress as a global city, now faces challenges such as garbage accumulation, traffic congestion, and sewerage issues under the BJP regime," Hooda remarked.

He also expressed concerns over the deteriorating law and order situation in the state, which he claimed has made people feel unsafe. Hooda lamented the decline in new investments and industries in Gurugram, attributing it to policies implemented by the current government.

"During our tenure, Gurugram and Manesar attracted significant investments, including 70 per cent of Japan's investments. However, today, existing industries are relocating, and companies are downsizing their workforce," Hooda asserted.

Meanwhile, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has reported substantial progress on its Phase 4 expansion project, despite challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic and delays in regulatory approvals. DMRC officials indicated that more than 50 percent of the work has been completed on all three priority corridors, totaling 65 kilometers, with plans for operational readiness by 2026.
