IL&FS Engineering bags Rs. 191-cr rural electrification order.

IL&FS Engineering and Construction Company Ltd. has received a Letter of Award from Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. (MVVNL) for rural electrification works in Shahjahanpur district of Uttar Pradesh.

The Rs. 190.88-crore contract, to be executed on a turnkey basis over next 24 months, comes under the Government of India scheme of Deen Dayal Upadhyay Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) Phase-II.

Under this scheme, 1961 villages of Shahjahanpur district will be electrified wherein 39,880 service connections will be provided to Below Poverty Line (BPL) cardholders. This project is funded by Rural Electrification Corporation.

The Hyderabad-based infrastructure company, IL&FS Engineering Services, is currently executing rural electrification works in Uttar Pradesh for Paschimanchal Vidhyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. worth Rs. 389.28 crore, and an order of Rs. 284 crore for Madhyanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. in Uttar Pradesh.

It is also executing rural electrification works for West Bengal State Electricity Distribution Company Ltd. worth Rs. 500 crore for 3000 villages, according to a company statement.
