IN-SPACe Partners with Karnataka to Bolster State's NewSpace Sector.

The Indian National Space Promotion and Authorisation Centre (IN-SPACe), in collaboration with the Department of Electronics, Information Technology, Biotechnology and Science & Technology of Karnataka, has formalized a partnership with the Government of Karnataka through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). This strategic alliance aims to significantly accelerate the development of the state's commercial space launchpad and bolster its burgeoning NewSpace ecosystem.

The MoUs encompass key initiatives designed to foster growth and innovation within the space sector in Karnataka. These include the establishment of a state-of-the-art Centre of Excellence for Space Technologies in Bengaluru and the creation of a public-private space manufacturing park. These facilities are envisioned to provide crucial infrastructure and resources for private space enterprises.

IN-SPACe, established in 2020, is the nodal governmental body tasked with opening up the space sector to private Indian companies. Its mandate includes the promotion, enabling, authorization, and supervision of the space-related activities undertaken by Non-Governmental Entities (NGEs). This partnership with Karnataka underscores IN-SPACe's commitment to empowering the private sector's role in India's space ambitions.

The MoUs were officially signed by Dr. Ekroop Caur, IAS, Secretary to the Government (Electronics, IT, Biotechnology and Science & Technology), representing the Government of Karnataka, and Mr. Lochan Sehra, IAS, Joint Secretary of IN-SPACe. The signing ceremony was graced by the presence of Dr. Shalini Rajneesh, IAS, Chief Secretary to the Government of Karnataka, and Dr. Pawan Goenka, Chairman of IN-SPACe, highlighting the high-level commitment from both entities to this collaborative endeavor. This partnership is expected to create a vibrant ecosystem for space technology development and manufacturing within Karnataka.
