Isuzu Motors to begin production from Sri City plant in April.

A 180-member delegation of the vendors of Japanese automotive company Isuzu Motors visited Sri City recently to have a glimpse of the firm’s production plant, getting ready to roll out vehicles from April next.

The Isuzu plant at Sri City is under the final phase of construction. Commercial production of pick-up trucks is expected to begin in April. Isuzu plans to source components from around 200 vendors in India when it commences manufacturing operations.

Isuzu is investing ₹3,000 crore in the facility that will have an installed capacity of 50,000 units per annum initially and will touch 120,000 units at full capacity.

Ravindra Sannareddy Managing Director, Sri City, in a statement said: “With the presence of auto major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) such as Isuzu, Kobelco Group, Hero Corp, and several automotive ancillary industries like NS Instruments, Nittan Valve, NHK Springs, Piolax, Mitsubishi Metal One, etc, there exists a strong ecosystem for automobile sector in Sri City.”

With the procurement of components from local suppliers, the company can achieve 70 per cent localisation on its vehicles to be produced at the Sri City plant, according to the statement.
