Jindal Stainless, India's premier stainless steel manufacturer, has taken a significant step towards fortifying the country's defence and aerospace manufacturing capabilities. Today, the company sealed a deal with the Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSME) Technology Centre in Visakhapatnam to produce value-added products essential for the missile and satellite launch vehicle sectors.
The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) aims to leverage Jindal Stainless' extensive experience in strategic material supply alongside the manufacturing expertise of the MSME Technology Centre. The collaboration also seeks to empower and nurture local MSMEs by involving them in production orders. The resulting products will be integral components for various applications, including motor casings, missile wings, launcher structures, and rocket motor boosters, significantly enhancing manufacturing across defence, aerospace, and related industries.
Speaking on the agreement, Managing Director of Jindal Stainless, Mr Abhyuday Jindal, expressed the company's commitment to delivering high-quality products efficiently, aligning with the government's Atmanirbhar Bharat initiative. He emphasized the reduction of import reliance and the importance of public-private partnerships in catering to the needs of the Indian armed forces.
Echoing Mr Jindal's sentiments, Mr Prasada Reddy G, Head of MSME Technology Centre, Visakhapatnam, underscored the centre's pride in collaborating with an industry leader like Jindal Stainless. Leveraging their combined strengths in skill development, research, and material quality, he expressed confidence in delivering unparalleled products for defence and aerospace applications.
The MoU signing ceremony took place at the MSME Technology Centre in Visakhapatnam, witnessed by key personnel from both entities, including Mr Prasada Reddy G, Col (Retd) Piyush Verma from Jindal Stainless' Defence and Aerospace vertical, and Mr Amit Goyal, Head of Sales and Marketing for the same vertical.
Jindal Stainless boasts an AS9100 accreditation, signifying its adherence to rigorous quality management standards for aviation, space, and defence industries. It stands as one of India's largest stainless steel and special steel conglomerates and ranks among the top 10 globally.
The MSME Technology Centre, Visakhapatnam, established under the Ministry of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises, aims to provide top-notch education, skill development, and innovative research in engineering technologies. Additionally, it offers design, development, and manufacturing support to MSMEs, Defence Public Sector Undertakings (DPSUs), and Central Public Sector Undertakings (CPSUs) in various disciplines.
Previously, Jindal Stainless has contributed to key projects under the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) and the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), including satellite launchers like PSLV and GSLV Mk-3, as well as missions like Chandrayaan and Gaganyaan. The company has also developed indigenous armour solutions for various defence forces, including bullet-proof equipment for the Indian Army, Navy, and other security agencies.
