Kanaka Durga flyover works to begin shortly, says Nani.

MP Kesineni Srinivas (Nani) has said the much awaited Kanaka Durga flyover will be a realty soon, adding that Chief Minister N. Chandababu Naidu will lay the foundation stone for the flyover shortly.

Addressing the media here on Thursday, Mr. Nani said that the Central government had already given the necessary permissions for the flyover. The missing link between Bhavanipuram and Varadhi junction connecting the NH-9 with NH-5 in the city had been transferred to the State from NHAI. The Centre also had sanctioned Rs. 260 crore for the project, he said.

'The Kanaka Durga flyover will be completed in 18 months, once tendering process is through. The Centre has also agreed to de-link the Benz circle flyover from the Vijayawada-Machilipatnam four-laning project and take it up as a standalone flyover. The 48-km Vijayawada bypass road will be taken up shortly. Discussions with the NHAI authorities were underway in this regard, he said. The MP said that the Centre had sanctioned Rs. 460 crore for the storm water drains, under ground drainage and drinking water facilities in the city.

The Centre also released Rs. 121 crore for housing projects and Rs. 26 crore for toilets, he said.
