Kandla Port set a new record in handling sugar cargo

Kandla: Kandla port achieved yet another landmark when the vessel MV Dushita Naree loaded a record quantity of 6,551 tonnes of sugar in bags in 24 hours on July 17, surpassing the previous record of 5,086 tonnes handled in 2002 by MV Heng Xin.

Eastern Bulk Co Ltd was the steamer agent, whereas Guru Shipping & Clearing Pvt. Ltd was the clearing agent and Shree Radhey Shipping Company was the stevedore for the cargo, a KPT release said here on Tuesday.

Indian Sugar Exim Corporation Ltd was the exporter.
