KCCI expects major works on NH 75 to be completed by May.
The Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI) has expressed optimism that major construction work on the four-laning of National Highway (NH) 75—from BC Road in Dakshina Kannada to Donigal in Sakleshpur taluk, Hassan district—will be completed by May 2025.
NH 75 serves as a crucial transport corridor connecting Mangaluru and Bengaluru. The project, which has faced persistent technical and bureaucratic delays, is vital for improving trade and travel in the region. According to KCCI President Anand G Pai, the chamber has consistently advocated for faster execution of the highway expansion, highlighting the adverse effects on export-import trade and commuters, especially during monsoons when landslides often disrupt traffic.
Over the past decade, KCCI has engaged with both State and Central authorities to address the delays. In the last two years, it has intensified efforts through direct interactions and formal representations to Dakshina Kannada MP Capt Brijesh Chowta and Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari, urging them to prioritise the project’s completion.
