Land Parcels Being Evaluated for New Srikakulam Airport.
A five-member delegation from the Airport Authority of India (AAI) recently visited Srikakulam district to evaluate potential sites for the construction of a new airport. This initiative follows a proposal made by Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu during his recent visit to the district.
The AAI team, led by Deputy General Manager Parvinder and accompanied by Malkit Singh, KP Venkata Raman, Sunil Kumar, and Sheik Abdul Azeez, inspected land parcels across five villages in the Mandasa and Vajrapukotturu areas, as suggested by the district administration.
Palasa RDO Venkatesh, along with Tahsildars Hymavathi of Mandasa and Sitarramaiah of Vajrapukotturu, joined the delegation to assess the land in various villages, including Ganguvada, Betalapuram, Lakshmipuram, Bidimi in Mandasa mandal, and Anakapalli and Onkuru in Vajrapukotturu mandal. The team carefully examined factors such as natural resources, government-owned lands, residential zones, and population density.
In addition to assessing the land, the AAI team consulted with local department officials about water resources, mining areas, and groundwater availability. According to sources, the locations in Mandasa and Vajrapukotturu mandals were identified as the most suitable for the airport project.
