Largest Food Park in Vizag With Rs. 300 Crore Investment .
Food processing industry is all set to get a major push in north Coastal Andhra as a whopping Rs. 915 crore worth investments are expected to be made in the next couple of years. Besides four mega food parks, plans are being made for setting up an integrated food park and a coconut processing unit shortly.
During the CII Partnership Summit which concluded here Tuesday, the state government signed memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with 66 companies which committed investments to the tune of Rs. 5,922 crore. These companies are expected to create about 61,650 jobs. Out of these, six companies had signed pacts to invest about Rs. 915 crore in the three districts of North Coastal Andhra alone. At least, three more companies are learnt to have evinced interest to locate their units in the region, particularly the Visakhapatnam-Vizianagaram area.
While two mega food parks will be established in Vizianagaram district, Visakhapatnam and Srikakulam will get one each. NCS Sugars (Nellore) Limited as well as Yalamanchili Infrastructure Limited have both evinced interest to establish their mega food parks with an investment of Rs. 120 crore in Vizianagaram district. Meanwhile, in Srikakulam district NCS Limited will be setting up a mega food park, at an estimated cost of Rs. 150 crore, providing jobs to 400 persons. Similarly, Vijayanagar Food and Nutraceuticals Private Limited has proposed to come up with a coconut processing unit in the district. More than 3,000 persons would be employed in the unit,” the industries department officials said. However, the single largest food park will be established in Visakhapatnam with an investment of Rs 300 crore. SH Food Processing Private Limited signed an MoU with the state government to establish the food park and create over 2,000 jobs.
Land for most of these units have already been finalised.
