Major Expansion: JSW Steel and JFE Partner on ₹5,845 Crore Investment.

JSW Steel, in a joint effort with its Japanese partner, JFE Steel Corporation, is set to invest ₹5,845 crore to expand its manufacturing capacity for grain-oriented electrical steel. This expansion will take place at its facilities in Vijayanagar, Karnataka, and JSW JFE Electrical Steel in Nashik.

The significant investment is aimed at meeting the rapidly increasing domestic demand for high-efficiency electrical steel. This specialized steel is crucial for key sectors driving India's future, including renewable energy, e-Mobility, AI data centers, and the broader energy transition toward decarbonization.

As a result of this expansion, the Vijayanagar plant's capacity will grow to 1 lakh tonnes per annum (tpa), up from its earlier planned capacity of 62,000 tpa. The project is projected to be completed by the 2028 fiscal year.
