Metro link to airport in Phase 2? CM to decide.
Bengaluru Development Minister K J George recently said that he hoped the bikes for hire scheme that would come up at five Metro stations in the City could be extended to all Metro stations in the future.
Speaking during an inaugural function organised at the parking lot of the Trinity Metro station premises, George said, 'We do have some feeder buses in place but not all commuters avail them. So, this facility would be very useful to Metro commuters.'
George also assured that the issue of providing Metro connectivity to the Kempegowda International Airport as part of the extension of the IInd Phase of Metro would be discussed with the Chief Minister shortly. 'The Chief Minister will take the final decision as to whether it would be a part of Phase-II or Phase-III of Metro,' he said.
The Minister also said that ancillary activities by Namma Metro like the parking facility would offer a fillip to start-ups in the City.
Replying to a query on potholes, George said, “There are many potholes along the Mysuru Road- Nayandahalli stretch. Work in connection with Phase-II of Metro was going on. The potholes would be set right as soon as possible,” he added.
Anil Giriraj, co-founder of Wicked Ride Adventure Services Pvt Ltd, which will be offering the service at five Metro stations, said, “The bikes will be available for hire from Monday from Trinity and Baiyappanahalli Metro stations. For Indira Nagar, it will be ready by May 28. The facility will be ready at Mantri and Peenya Metro stations from the first week of June.
