Metro phase-I will be ready by March 2015: CM

The State government said that the first phase of the Namma Metro of Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (BMRCL) would be completed by March 2015.

Work on the 48-km first phase metro track is as per the revised schedule and is expected to be completed by March 2015, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah told the Legislative Assembly recently.

As per the earlier schedule, the deadline for the first phase was December 2013. BMRCL has not been able to meet the deadline on account of delays in land acquisition, handing over of land by the Indian Railways, underground works, and shifting of utility lines, he said.

The revised cost of the phase-I is Rs. 11,609 crore and the expenditure incurred as on December 2013 is Rs. 10,372 crore. The estimated expenditure for phase-I is Rs. 13,845 crore.
