Mitsubishi Electric Invests ₹2,100 Crore in Chennai Plant to Expand India Operations.
Mitsubishi Electric India, a global leader in electrical and electronic equipment, has announced a ₹2,100-crore investment to set up a new manufacturing facility near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. The plant will produce room air conditioners and compressors, marking the company’s second manufacturing facility in India within two years, following the launch of its Factory Automation Systems plant in Pune in 2023.
The Chennai facility will have an annual production capacity of 300,000 air conditioners and 650,000 compressors. Atsushi Takase, Managing Director of Mitsubishi Electric India, said the new plant will enhance localisation and strengthen the company’s operations in India. “We were importing ACs, and will now manufacture in Chennai,” he told BusinessLine.
The investment underlines Mitsubishi Electric’s commitment to expanding its footprint and meeting growing domestic demand in the Indian market.
