MMRC gets a new logo.

The Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (MMRDA) recently unveiled a brand new logo for the Mumbai Metro Rail Corporation (MMRC), the nodal agency for the Rs. 23,000-crore Colaba-SEEPZ Metro III project.

U.P.S. Madan, the MMRDA Metropolitan Commissioner and MMRC Director, unveiled the logo by designer Poornima Burte. The new logo, which reflects Mumbai’s wide range of transport services, will be incorporated in all MMRC posters, tickets and other material during the implementation of the Metro.

'The earlier logo was designed with an elevated Metro-III corridor in mind as was planned originally. The new logo, of course, will present the organisation more appropriately as it is more relevant, fresh and robust,” said Mr. Madan. 'It may also be noted that the Mumbai'Metro Rail Corporation was initially floated as a State government agency. However, the same now is a joint venture of State and the Central Government and will function as such.”

Asked when the work on Metro-III would begin, Mr. Madan said: 'The internal work has begun, the general consultant has been appointed and the work orders and tenders are being worked on. The ground work will begin only by 2016.” He said the agency had sent a detailed report on the rehabilitation of project-affected people to the State government for approval.
