NABARD Nod for Rs. 43.4-cr Harippad Development Project.

Home Minister Ramesh Chennithala has said that the NABARD has approved Rs. 43.4-crore project for the development of Harippad Assembly constituency. A sum of Rs. 38 crore has been sanctioned for the construction of a bridge at Muthulakurichickal on the Nedumudi- Karuvatta Road and Rs. 5.4 crore for the renovation work of Harippad deviation road, Town Hall Junction and Ezhikkakathu Junction. He said that Karamuttu residents have been demanding the bridge for over half a century. The bridge will connect the Karuvatta and Thakazhi panchayats. The road will help the natives reach mainland and help develop the area, the minister said.

The new bridge will help the passengers deviate from the NH 47, during a traffic block at the Thottapally spillway area on the NH. The route will be parallel to the NH, the Home Minister said.

Chennithala added that another project will help the overall development of the junction. In the monsoon season, the junction is usually flooded with rain water. A proposed culvert between the Town Hall Junction and Ezhikkakathu Junction will help drain the rain water.

The reconstruction of road from Harippad Junction to Madhava Junction will be carried out under the project, Ramesh Chennithala said. National Transportation Planning and Research has prepared the design and project for the development project of the Harippad junction, the minister said.
