Navyuga replaces Maytas for Machilipatnam  port project Mumbai: The proposed Machilipatnam port would be developed by Navayuga and NCC now, since the Maytas consortium was unable to raise fund for the project,

According to official sources, Navayuga was considered to lead the consortium due to its expertise in port development — it operates the Krishnapatnam port.

The Machilipatnam project has been designed to come up in about 6,200 acres with an outlay of Rs 1,600 crore for the first phase.

The port has been designed to have 12 berths with a total cargo handling capacity of 35 million tonne per annum (mtpa). However, in the first phase, it would have three berths with a cargo handling capacity of about 15 mtpa.
