New barrage across Manjeera downstream of Nizamsagar.

The State Government has given administrative approval for carrying out preliminary survey and preparation of detailed project report (DPR) for construction of a barrage and lift irrigation scheme across the river Manjeera, downstream of the Nizamsagar project in Nizamabad district.

In the orders issued on Friday, Special Chief Secretary (Irrigation) S.K. Joshi sated that the Commissioner (Planning & Development) of Godavari Basin had sought administrative approval to the preliminary survey estimate for the preparation of DPR for construction of barrage with lift irrigation with Rs.82 lakh.

However, the government has given approval for an amount of Rs.60 lakh for the purpose.
