The Noida Metro Rail Corporation (NMRC) is planning to prod the Centre to give its approval for the corridor that will penetrate Greater Noida West.
During a board meeting on Friday, NMRC’s managing director Ritu Maheshwari said, “We are expediting the process to get the approval soon.”
Sources in the corporation said the central government’s nod was likely to come in a week. Once that is done, NMRC will float a tender to hire a developer for the project. The Greater Noida West corridor will be built in two phases. The first phase will be 9.6km long and will have five stations - sectors 122,123, Greater Noida Sector 4, Ecotech 12 and Greater Noida Sector 2. In the second phase, where the line will extend another 5.8km, there will be four stations - Greater Noida sectors 3, 10 and 12 and Knowledge Park V. NMRC will build the Greater Noida West corridor all by itself, unlike the 29.7km long Aqua Line, which was developed by DMRC.
The board also discussed the development of a foot overbridge to link Blue Line’s Sector 52 metro station with Sector 51 metro station of the Aqua Line. Maheshwari, who is also the Noida Authority CEO, told the board that the overbridge would be constructed by the Authority and the work was under process. “An estimate for the FOB has been prepared. The tender is likely to be floated by August 20, latest,” she said.
