Suzlon Energy Australia bags Rs 1,200-cr orders

Mumbai: Suzlon Energy Australia Pty Ltd,a wholly owned subsidiary of Suzlon Energy, said on Monday that it has received orders for supply of wind turbines totalling 204 MW.

The financial details of the orders were not disclosed, but according to market estimate it is of Rs 1,200 crore.

The first order is from Sydney-based Renewable Power Ventures for 63 units of S88 – 2.1 MW wind turbine, translating to 132 MW. The turbines would be installed at Capital Wind Farm in New South Wales, 50 km north of Canberra. It is scheduled for completion in the first half of 2009.

AGL Energy based in New South Wales has placed a repeat order 34 units of S88 wind turbines, which is about 71.4 MW. The project will come up in South Australia approximately 250 km north of Adelaide, and near the original Hallett project where AGL’s initial 95 MW project supplied by Suzlon is under development.

Mr Andre Horbach, CEO, Suzlon Group, in a statement said, “With its plentiful windy sites and a growing economy, we believe Australia is a key market for wind energy”.
