New Railway Terminus at Godhni to Ease Nagpur's Load, Survey Underway.

The Central Railway (CR) is set to develop a new terminus at Godhni railway station to accommodate the growing passenger rush and enhance train operations from Nagpur. The station is currently undergoing major modernization under the central government's 'Amrut Bharat' scheme.

Addressing a press conference, senior CR officials stated that 10 new terminals are planned across Maharashtra, including one at Godhni. They also noted that four new platforms are being constructed at Ajni railway station. A survey is underway for the new terminus at Godhni, which will help increase the capacity of the Nagpur division.

Officials further revealed that the third and fourth lines on the Itarsi section have been commissioned between Godhni and Chichonda. The remaining stretch of the route will require viaducts in the ghat section, which are currently being designed.

Earlier in the day, CR General Manager Dharam Veer Meena conducted a detailed safety inspection of the Ballarshah-Sewagram section of the Nagpur Division. He announced that CR would be the first zone in Indian Railways to implement KAVACH, a state-of-the-art train collision avoidance system, across its entire 3,000 km network.

During the inspection, Meena reviewed several key facilities, including the route relay interlocking cabin, panel room, relay/power unit, CCTV control room at the RPF station, station manager's office, crew lobby, crew running room, and various passenger amenities at Ballarshah station. He also interacted with railway employees and held discussions with freight customers, Chandrapur MLA Kishor Jorgewar, and MLC Sudhakar Adbale.

At Nagpur, Meena engaged with branch officers and emphasized a threefold increase in efforts toward safety, maintenance, quality, and training to modernize railway infrastructure. Nagpur Division DRM Vinayak Garg, principal department heads, and senior officers accompanied Meena during the visit.
