New Railway zone needs Cabinet nod, says BJP MP
Visakhapatnam MP and BJP state president K. Hari Babu said recently that work on the AIIMS type of institute proposed to be set up at Mangalagiri would begin in three to four months.
In an interaction session with the media recently, Mr Hari Babu said the delay was merely “bureaucratic” as a political decision was taken long ago.
Mr Hari Babu said a railway zone would be set up in the new state in Visakhapatnam.
Since an expenditure of Rs.100 crore was involved in creating a new railway zone, the proposal has to be ratified by the Union Cabinet.
On the issue of special category status for the state, he said it was more important for the Centre to give benefits rather than just the label of special status.
He said Andhra Pradesh has several advantages including road, rail and sea connectivity and a tremendous potential for exports.
He said 67 pharmaceutical companies were moving to Visakhapatnam from Hyderabad and other places.
The international cargo terminal and the drug control certification office were being established the city.
