NHPC eyes October-end for commissioning 85.72 MW of its Bikaner solar project.

State-owned NHPC has announced a one-month extension for commissioning the remaining 85.72 MW of its 300 MW Karnisar Solar Power Project in Bikaner, Rajasthan. In an exchange filing recently, the company stated that the final portion of the project is now expected to be commissioned by October 31, 2025, rather than the previous target of September 30.

The announcement comes as the company continues to work towards completing the large-scale renewable energy project, a key part of India's solar power capacity expansion. NHPC has been updating stakeholders on the project's phased completion, with parts of the 300 MW capacity having already achieved commercial operation earlier in the year.

The Karnisar solar project is located in a high solar irradiance region, capitalising on Rajasthan's ideal conditions for solar power generation. While the latest update revises the final commissioning timeline, the completion of the project remains a significant milestone for NHPC's diversification into solar energy, which complements its traditional hydropower business.
